Privacy Policy
Last updated:
Hackathon Ideas is a free, static website of hackathon project ideas. We collect as little as possible: there are no accounts, no sign-up forms and no database.
Who we are
Hackathon Ideas (hackathonideas.com) is run by an independent owner based in India. For any privacy question, email support@hackathonideas.com.
What is stored on your device
The site works without cookies of its own. Two small items are kept in your browser's localStorage, only on your device:
- Saved ideas: the IDs of ideas you bookmark, so /saved can show them.
- Theme: whether you picked the light or dark theme.
This data is never sent to us. You can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
Analytics
We may use one analytics service to count visits and see which pages are useful. If enabled, it is either Plausible Analytics (cookieless, no personal data, see plausible.io/data-policy) or Google Analytics 4, which uses cookies and processes data such as your approximate location, device and the pages you visit (see Google's Privacy Policy). If you block analytics (for example with a browser extension), the site keeps working.
Hosting and server logs
The site is served by Firebase Hosting (Google). Like any web host, it processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, in order to deliver the page and keep the service secure. See Firebase privacy information.
Error reports
If error reporting is turned on, a crash report (error message, technical stack trace, the page address and the time) may be sent so we can fix bugs. It does not include your saved ideas or any personal details.
Emails you send us
If you email us (for example to suggest an idea or report a problem), we use your email address and message only to reply and improve the site. We do not sell it or add you to any list without asking.
Future features
We will update this page before any of these go live:
- Newsletter: only if you subscribe, with an unsubscribe link in every email.
- Advertising (such as Google AdSense): ad providers may use cookies to show and measure ads. Where required, we will ask for your consent first.
- Affiliate links: some links to tools may earn us a commission. They will be clearly disclosed.
Links to other sites
Ideas link to GitHub repositories and other websites. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.
Children
The site is meant for a general audience of students and developers and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 or the EU GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you. Because we hold almost none, the simplest way is to email support@hackathonideas.com.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
This page is a plain-English summary of how the site works. It is not legal advice.
